Correct belt tension for operating safety and cost savings

Timing belts, V-belts or ripped belts have to be pretensioned before a drives initial operation. To get a reliable drive the adjusting method to twist the belt by 90 degrees is not sufficient as the feeling for the necessary force and experience with bolt tensioning varies from operator to operator.

If pretension is too low V-belts and ripped belts tend to slip through resp. timing belts to jump. If pretension is too high heavier loads work on belts and other drive components like bearings and shafts. In both cases a wrong adjusted belt leads to early machine breakdowns and therefore higher costs.

Using a belt frequency meter the correct belt tension can be adjusted independent from its operator. Please consult our engineering service, if you have any questions or need assistance.
